General Therapy Methods / Lyme & Other Conditions
Historically naturopathic medicine has been "eclectic"--combining< therapies used by different approaches to healing. Because of my affiliation with Capital University of Integrative Medicine I can refer you to their web site for more information on combining therapies: www.cuim.edu.
At NIHA I am fortunate to be teaming with a medical doctor who just received the Doctor of Integrative Medicine diploma from Capital. This helps with insurance processing for patients and gives access to a wider variety of treatment options. Lyme Disease and other "Vector Borne Infectious Diseases" (VBID)represent a model for complex conditions. Treating these and other chronic health problems requires a multi-faceted approach (see below*). This is what I trained to do in naturopathic medical school, and this is the approach taught at Capital University and practiced at National Integrated Health Associates. Through co-management with the medical doctors at NIHA I am able to use the team approach so they will include prescription medications for my patients when appropriate. I continue to investigate what approaches bring results. This includes being willing to listen to claims of success with various approaches that are not standard western allopathic medicine. I do not always pass on the information I hear from different practitioners; often it is better to watch at a distance and see if therapies bear the test of time. If you have heard of alternative medicine treatments for some condition that concerns you, I am open to talking about what you have heard. Please talk with me about what approach to treatment would be appropriate for you.
